Les Bourgs Hospice
Structural and civil engineering design for the redevelopment and extension of Les Bourgs Hospice, creating a robust and carefully considered environment focused on comfort, durability and acoustic performance for residents.
Project Overview
The building’s design utilised the footprint and aesthetics of the existing structure and linked it with a new curved extension. Due to the compromised layout and lack of thermal and acoustic insulation, the existing structure was rebuilt using traditional construction methods. The extension was constructed with a piled base slab and concrete first floor to create robustness and acoustic separation. Creating a calm and therapeutic environment for the residents was at the heart of all design decisions.
